Tutor requirements & onboarding

Tutoring on Sino Tutor is open to anyone who genuinely knows their subject and wants to help learners understand it. You do not need to be a full-time teacher, but you do need to be competent, reliable and safe to work with young people.

What we look for

• Subject mastery. You should be confident teaching the subjects and grades you list, from the fundamentals up to the level your learners are working at.
• Proof of your ability. A relevant qualification, transcript or certificate. Current students may tutor lower grades where their results support it.
• A valid ID. We verify every tutor's identity before they appear on the platform.
• Professionalism. Clear communication, punctuality and respect for learners and parents.

What to prepare before you apply

Having these ready makes onboarding quick:

• The subjects and grades you want to teach.
• Your hourly rate, in rand.
• A short bio that tells learners who you are and how you teach.
• A clear scan or photo of your ID.
• Your qualification or supporting documents (certificates, transcripts).

How onboarding works

1. Sign up as a tutor and complete your application - subjects, grades, rate and bio.
2. Upload your documents for verification (ID and qualifications).
3. Set your availability, which becomes the calendar learners book from.
4. We review your application. This usually takes 1 to 2 business days.
5. You go live. Once approved, your public profile opens with your booking calendar and reviews.

Keep your availability current so you never miss a booking, respond promptly to requests, and aim for the kind of sessions that earn genuine five-star reviews. Tutors who consistently uphold our code of conduct and delight learners rise to the top of search results.
