Our story

Sino Tutor began with a simple frustration: good help with schoolwork was too hard to find, too expensive, or too far away. We set out to build a place where any learner - in a city or a small town - could find a vetted tutor, get unstuck with an AI study assistant at any hour, and reach the resources they need to do well.

Across South Africa we kept seeing the same story play out. A learner who was bright and willing would fall behind in one subject, and the help that could have turned things around was either out of reach or out of budget. Meanwhile, talented tutors who genuinely loved teaching had no simple way to be found by the students who needed them most. The gap was not a shortage of ability on either side; it was a missing bridge between them.

So we set out to build that bridge. We wanted something that felt less like a directory and more like a trusted partner in a learner's corner: a place to find the right tutor, a study assistant that explains rather than simply answers, and a library of past papers and resources, all in one place and all priced for South African families. Every feature we ship is measured against one question - does this help a learner actually understand the work?

A South Africa where every learner, no matter where they live or what their family can afford, has the support they need to understand their work and reach their potential. We picture a country where falling behind in a subject is a temporary setback with help close at hand, not a quiet disadvantage that follows a learner for years.

We exist to close the gap between the learners who need support and the tutors and tools that can provide it, and to do so in a way that builds genuine understanding rather than shortcuts.
