Cookie policy
This policy explains what cookies and similar technologies are, how and why Sino Tutor uses them, and the choices you have over them. It forms part of, and should be read together with, our Privacy policy and POPIA notice.

1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit. They let the site recognise your device, remember your actions and preferences over time, and function properly as you move between pages. We also use technologies that work in a similar way, such as your browser's local storage, and in this policy we refer to all of them together as "cookies".
Cookies set by Sino Tutor itself are called first-party cookies. Cookies set by the services we rely on to run the platform are called third-party cookies. Some cookies last only for the length of your visit and are deleted when you close your browser (session cookies), while others remain for a set period so we can remember you on your next visit (persistent cookies).
2. Why we use cookies
We use cookies to keep the platform secure and working as you expect, to remember your preferences, and to understand and improve how the service is used. We group the cookies we use into the categories below.
- Strictly necessary cookies. These are essential for the platform to work. They sign you in, keep you signed in as you move around, remember your plan and protect against fraud and security threats. Because the service cannot function without them, they cannot be switched off.
- Preference cookies. These remember choices you make so your experience is more consistent, such as whether you have accepted this banner and interface settings you have chosen. Without them the platform still works, but it may forget your preferences.
- Analytics cookies. These help us understand how people use the platform - for example which pages are visited and where users run into difficulty - so that we can make it better. They are optional and are only set if you accept them.
3. Cookies set by the services we use
Some cookies are placed by the trusted providers we use to operate the platform, such as our authentication and hosting provider. These cookies support core functions like keeping your session secure. Where third parties process information through cookies, they do so in line with their own policies and our agreements with them. We describe the providers we rely on in our Privacy policy.
4. Your choices and how to manage cookies
When you first visit Sino Tutor you are shown a banner that lets you accept or decline non-essential cookies, and you can change your mind at any time. You can also control cookies through your browser settings, where you can block or delete existing cookies and choose to be warned before new ones are set. Most browsers also offer a private or incognito mode.
Please bear in mind that strictly necessary cookies cannot be turned off, and that blocking or deleting other cookies may affect how the platform works - for example, you may be signed out or your preferences may not be remembered.
5. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie policy as the platform and the technologies we use change. When we do, we will revise the date shown above, and where the changes are significant we will take reasonable steps to bring them to your attention.
6. More information
